First on the list is
Bayfront Park & Piers in Hamilton’s North End.
The trick is to get out into the water on one of the piers or peninsulas that dot this stretch of the bay & then look off towards cootes paradise just beyond the McQuesten Bridge. My favourite locations here are the Pier 4 peninsula, pier 7 or 8 and if you have a boat, then from the water is another amazing vantage point!
Now, since we mentioned the
McQuesten Bridge, it offers one of the best views as you’re positioned higher up & get a clear view. It makes a fantastic backdrop for those romantic photo shoots or if you enjoy birdwatching, it’s a great vantage point!
Next up is just below the bridge along the
Desjardins Recreation Trail
which offers a stunning Cootes Paradise backdrop as you sit in the valley of the Niagara Escarpment & enjoy the setting sun.
A bit further along is
Princess Point, a part of the Cootes Paradise nature sanctuary which is owned by the Royal Botanical Gardens. They’ve created multiple platforms & sitting areas that are ideal locations for a more private viewing of the sunset.
Another area that has some beautiful sunset views are on top of the escarpment in many of the fields in Flamborough, Glanbrook, Binbrook, Waterdown, etc. So in this case, hop in the car & enjoy the scenic setting sun across the fields by driving on any of the roads that run east/west.
If you’re looking for an above the city view of the sunsets here in Hamilton, I encourage you to check out the
Hamilton Conservation Authority’s Devils Punch Bowl
park which offers a lookout to the west & is one of the best places to say farewell to the day.
Thank you for joining me as we explore the stunning sunsets in Hamilton, Ontario.
