Discover the new Hamilton, Ontario

The renaissance is well underway & the new era of this historic city is one you should be a part of!

From climate plans, to growth in business opportunities, to a neighbourhood for every lifestyle - Hamilton is a city on a massive rebrand & I'm excited to show you around!

Located on the western tip of Lake Ontario,

Hamilton is the 3rd largest city in Ontario & is home to more than 770,000 people.

Now there is no denying it's BIG - sprawling out over 1,138 square kilometres, but it wasn’t always so expansive! This once midsize city amalgamated five of its neighbouring municipalities back in 2001 to create this supersized city which now encompasses 9 outlying towns & former regions -- collectively known as Hamilton Region.

Getting the lay of the land & understanding the different areas will take time but you can jumpstart your understanding with this episode I created explaining it all in detail over on YouTube.

The city of Hamilton is naturally divided by the niagara escarpment which creates the "mountain" & lower city - but is then broken down even more into smaller groups of

neighbourhoods which we can further explore...

With a mix of old world charm from Hamilton’s deep roots & a focus on the future --

Hamilton is currently experiencing a gentrification trend that is pushing the city forward & forming a new identity.

Welcome to beautiful Waterdown, a unique part of Hamilton’s urban growth plan that offers the conveniences of city living with a small town feel all the while embraced by the nature of the niagara escarpment & greenbelt.

It was amalgamated along with a few neighbouring communities to become a part of Flamborough in 1974 & then again by Hamilton in 2001. Divided into 2 communities, East & West Waterdown, this community is the closest to neighbouring City of Burlington which puts you that much closer to Toronto.

Binbrook

👇🏽 Median Price*👇🏽

Condo Apartment

$451,261

Townhouse

$797,500

Detached Home

$1,041,500

Binbrook is considered a neighbourhood inside of Glanbrook (a community amalgamated by Hamilton in 2001) but being a quiet suburb area set inside the sprawling fields of the rural escarpment, it has it's own real estate eco-system.

If you're looking for new builds & city amenities without feeling like you're living IN the city, this would likely be a great fit for you! Just a short 7 minute drive for the Hamilton Mountain amenities but also with lots of shops, facilities & restaurants right inside the neighbourhood -- Binbrook is a community that somewhat resembles the early years of Waterdown!

Stoney Creek

Becoming a city in its own right in 1984, Stoney Creek is a community tucked between Lake Ontario & the Niagara Escarpment. It experienced rapid growth in the 1970’s transitioning the area away from predominantly agricultural into a mixed use city. With easy highway access & most homes being less than 50 years old, it’s a community of many facets.

Another iconic location here is the Devil’s Punch Bowl conservation area & battlefield park. It’s also home to Confederation Park which is a waterfront park space with paved waterfront trails, the waterpark, beach access, restaurants & more!

Flamborough

This rural area has amalgamated with with more that 20 neighbouring villages long before Hamilton came into the picture.

Beginning in 1974, East Flamborough, West Flamborough, Beverly & Waterdown amalgamated to create the Flamborough Township which was then further amalgamated by Hamilton in 2001.

This community is set atop the Niagara Escarpment & is home to 4 of Hamilton Conservation Areas, historic homes but most of the sprawling subdivisions are in the town of Waterdown which is considered it's own separate real estate eco-system.

Because of this, Flamborough as covered here with the stats, is comprised of mostly sprawling estates, farms & a few large lots with modest homes for that country-near-the-city feeling.

Glanbrook/Mount Hope

👇🏽 Median Price*👇🏽

Condo Apartment

$499,900

Townhouse

$721,000

Detached Home

$1,035,250

This large community was formed in 1974 when Mount Hope, Binbrook, Glanford & a few other communities amalgamated before being amalgamated by Hamilton in 2001

Now, it’s one of the fastest growing communities in Hamilton as Binbrook & Mt. Hope continue to expand with new subdivisions sprawling out into the countryside.

Most of these communities are a fair distance to the main commuting highways, but offer an escape from the hustle & bustle of being inside the main city limits.
