10 Ways To Fall In Love

with your home again

HOME ENVY…

You’ve just visited a friends new home, were browsing an amazing listing on Realtor.ca, looked at a model home or perhaps you attended an open house in a posh neighbourhood…

… and now you are sitting in your home, looking around & feeling a bit, well, blah.

Those quartz counters were gleaming & yours feel lack lustre…

The wide plank hand scrapped hardwood floors were spectacular & your worn out broadloom feels limp…

Those marble tiled rain showers were the picture of relaxation & your beige ceramics with bath fitter surround feel dated…

These feelings are natural —  it’s literally human nature to want the safest & comfiest living quarters so first, know you are not alone!

Secondly, there are lots of things you can do to combat these feelings of inferiority & we’ve got 10 right here for you!

Read on or watch the video & start loving your home again💖

– 3 –

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to help you feel the love! Don’t forget your baseboards & ceiling could probably use a fresh coat & they make a huge difference when done.

– 4 –

Rearranging your furniture or refinishing pieces can be a quick way to stir up new feelings about your space.

– 5 –

Adding art or finally printing & hanging your pictures is an easy way to boost the happy vibes!

– 6 –

All of our sense play a role in the enjoyment of our homes — pay attention to the smells & find ways to add a pleasant, ideally chemical free, scent. My personal favourites are lemongrass, grapefruit or an immune boosting blend of essential oils in a diffuser.

– 7 –

Donate 20 things & lighten your household Marie Kondo style. If you haven’t caught any of her Netflix series yet, you might find it helpful!

It’s easy to fall into the trap of home envy & forget why you loved your home when you bought it.

In some instances you may have outgrown your space or find yourself with too much home as the seasons of life transition, but for the majority of people, rekindling that love is all that’s needed!

– 1 –

First, let’s get some gratitude in our hearts. Take a moment to Love your home for the fact that you have one… weather you are renting or own, have custom finishes or builder basic — you have a safe place to lay your head at night & that is so wonderful!

– 2 –

Take a good look at your rooms & make sure you are maximizing their use. If you work from home but have yourself crammed into a dark corner or have a massive pool table yet never play, it might be time to weigh out the best use of your space.

– 8 –

What rooms are causing you the most stress? Could it be fixed with some organization?? Continue that donation trend & consider spending some time organizing the space.

– 9 –

Change up your drapes for a dramatic change without a ton of work! Remember that floor to ceiling drapes make your windows feel larger & sheer light coloured drapes will make your space feel more open.

– 10 –

Clean homes are easy to love homes — so spend some time every day picking up & get on a schedule for cleaning or outsource the job so you can truly enjoy your space! Right now we have very young littles & find that keeping the amount of toys in the home to a manageable number makes all the difference for our clean up time.
