Village Square - Downtown Burlington
With a Victorian feel full of charm in the heart of Burlington's Downtown Shopping district... Come explore Village Square!

A block north of Spencer Smith & the Brant Street Pier,
many people aren’t aware it’s here, but if you haven’t visited in a while, you should definitely make time!
Built in the 1970’s, most of the buildings are actually fairly modern, but the facade is designed to capture old English architecture & create a bazaar like atmosphere as its developer Jack Friedman had envisioned.

Starting on the west side of Village Square with Stinson House (currently home to Buvette), beside the gated entryway, a frame cottage was built in 1850 by Joseph Stinson, it had been upgraded with dormers & brick over the years & still stands as a beautiful historic building in our core.
This structure was the starting point for Friedman’s vision & could be considered the heart of Village Square.
Moving to the south side, The Hotel on Pine Street was built to reflect what establishments would have looked like at the turn of the century.
With a long second story boardwalk leading to businesses & a unique set of shops on the street level, this side is home to popular destinations like...

On this side there is also the Firehall which was Burlington’s first fire station!
The first horse drawn fire fighting carriage was purchased in 1893.
The tower is a replica of the original bell tower above Burlington’s Town Hall in the 1880’s & would have been used to alert the volunteer firefighters of any emergencies.

The eastern side is home to what was the cottage of Peter Fisher & was built in 1826.
Walking along the northern edge you get a different feeling altogether with the Colonnade -- a portico that runs the entire length of the block with large columns & arches inspired by 18th century Georgian architecture.

As you head into the interior of Village Square you come across the gazebo & all of the businesses that call the courtyard home!
From shopping to workouts, to beautifying your body, mind & soul or enjoying delicious food & treats or a specialty drink, you could spend all day exploring this uniquely inspired shopping district!
